Payments

For orders $100 or less- The total cost of your order is required when placing an order. 

Your order will not be confirmed and scheduled until all payments have cleared PayPal. We use PayPal as a form of payment. A PayPal account isn't required to pay invoices.

When you receive the PayPal email, Click the PayPal button in the email to proceed


Last-minute orders (7 days or less), need to be paid in full immediately as well. Payment not received timely will be canceled.

In certain circumstances, a last-minute order is needed. 20% of the total order (rush order) amount may be added to the cost of your order.


Minimum Orders


There is a 2 dozen minimum on all treats and cupcakes without a purchase of a cake. For cake orders; there is a $40 minimum order amount.


Deposits


We require a deposit 50% on placement of orders over $100; which is deducted from the final balance. The final payment is due one week prior to pick up or delivery. If final payment isn't made within 24  hours, your order is subject to cancellation. Please contact your Cakie Representative for other payment options.


Cancellations/ Retainers

If you choose to cancel your paid/partially paid order 7 days or less before the scheduled pick-up date, you will receive a store credit to use in the future (minus your retainer fee which is 25% (nonrefundable) and minus the cost of supplies).


Orders canceled 8 or more days before, you will receive a refund (minus your retainer fee which is 15% (nonrefundable)) and minus the cost of any themed supplies)


Orders canceled during production (usually 1-2 days) are subject o a 50% cancellation fee. Any remaining monies will be given in a store credit to be used at a later date. (minus your retainer fee which is 25% (nonrefundable)).



Customization and Edible Images


It's imperative that when ordering customized images (I.e pictures or other custom labels) that you pay the deposit immediately. We cannot be responsible for images not being ready by the due date if the deposit it's not paid. Lastly, when placing your order for a last min request, we will inform you of the turnaround time for images. If you decide to move forward, you will not be refunded for that image if it doesn't arrive in time.


Events and Wedding Cakes


Payments


Final payment is due 4 weeks prior to pick/delivery/set up. The final payment invoice will be sent to the point of contacts email. If payment is not received, services will not be rendered and all monies received are forfeited.


Deposits

We require a deposit of $30 and a retainer of 20% on placement of orders for events, wedding cakes, and event set up, which is deducted from the final balance payable (minus the retainer fee)



Cancellations

If you decide that you would like to cancel your order/event, any amount paid (minus the retainer) will be held for the allotted time and material purchased for the event. A detailed invoice will be sent to the customer with the refund, if applicable.

2 months prior to the event: 25% will be withheld

30 days or more prior to event: 50% will be withheld

15 to 29 days prior to event: 75% will be withheld

14 days or less: 90% will be withheld


Contracting

The contract is needed for any event and wedding orders. The contract is an agreement between the customer and Mela T Cakery stating the details of the order, pricing, payment, and is signed by both the customer and a Mela T Cakery Representative.


General Policies


Refund

If you are not satisfied with your order after purchasing, please contact your rep at Mela T Cakery to discuss.

If upon inspection, after your product leaves Mela T Cakery you notice that your order is faulty, immediately call Mela T Cakery (within 24 hours) so that the order can be returned. 80% of the unconsumed product needs to be returned in order to discuss refunds and will be determined by management.

Delivery

Mela T Cakery delivery charge starts at $6.00 and up; depending on the mileage. *Events, wedding cakes, and corporate events are not included. (The contract will have details for delivery for these additional services) We also offer pick-up services; which is $2.00. We have 1 pick-up location; one is located in Owings Mills (Owings MIlls Subway Station  5801 Paineters Mills Road, Owings Mill Maryland 21117) Our truck will be parked in the parking lot. Our Cakie Representative will discuss delivery times after your order is completed. 

*** Saturdays we do not start our delivery or pickups service until 3pm. If your event is scheduled for an earlier time on Saturdays, it's recommended that you schedule a pick-up/delivery service on Friday. Click here to schedule a time to speak with one of our Cakie Representatives


Duplication of Work

We pride ourselves on creating desserts for events; and will ask that the customer provide pictures of cakes they are interested in. Mela T Cakery will not replicate cake designs from other bakeries 100%. We will use the picture provided as a guide and add our Mela T Cakery touch!


Pick Up Times

Mela T Cakery understands that a delay in picking up your order may happen. We give a grace period (by COB on the scheduled pick-up date) to pick up your order. All orders not picked up within 24 hours of the scheduled pick-up time will be forfeited. No refund or store credit.
